Hi. I'm excited to find your wonderful channel. I'd like to know the adjective "meticulous" could be negative meaning. For example, when my boyfriend is too particular about his diet like having nutrition plan, having to eat fruits between meals I'd say "he is meticulous about his diet"....? I know I'm writing to the old post, but I hope you'd reply me back :)
Interactive English (11 hours ago)
Thanks for checking out the lesson. Sure, you can use "meticulous" in a negative sense because it's not always good to be super-detailed oriented. So it depends on the context, but the example you gave looks good. 😊

when to use ubiquitous over plethora?
Interactive English (3 days ago)
They are different parts of speech (ubiquitous: adjective / plethora: noun). Also, their meanings are a bit different with ubiquitous meaning "everywhere" and plethora meaning "great variety." 👍
Abderrahmane Belhadj (6 days ago)
short and sweet! however, many other channels are ubiquitous, but useless

Interactive English (29 days ago)
Thanks for your comment. You could ask someone, "How much money do you make?" (job). However, it may not be culturally polite since some people, such as Americans, do not often discuss their salary or wages. 👍

I'm taking up a training project in which I have to train and coach non-English speakers (They probably just know the alphabet). My job would be to teach them how to communicate in simple English. On a scale of 1-10, I'd like to take them to a 3 or a 4 in terms of spoken English ability. I'd really appreciate any advice, suggestions or road map on how to get this implemented and executed. I'm also gonna be doing the same for people who are probably a 3 or a 4 in the same scale and take them to a level of say 4 or 5 or 6. Cheers!
Interactive English (30 days ago)
Thanks for commenting. That's a pretty comprehensive question. I'd try to keep it simple and keep it fun. Try to maximize student speaking time (pair them up for conversations or group discussions). I always aim to do less than 20% teacher talk. I typically follow a standard teaching flow of warm-up, presentation, controlled practice, freer practice, comprehension check. This can be followed at just about any level. We wish you all the best! 😃👍
